If you own a business, then you probably have to hire a few employees. And you certainly know that it can be hard to manage your employees and keep them happy. But high employee happiness is a great benefit to your business. Here’s why.
First, happy employees tend to stay with the company longer. Hiring and training new employees is time consuming and expensive, so it’s in a company’s best interest to keep employees for as long as possible. In companies where employee happiness is a priority, employees tend to stay for many years.
If your business is in the customer service sector, then you have another good reason to keep employees happy. If your workers are happy, then will tend to treat customers better. They might end up going above and beyond to help a customer and to make sure that the customers leave happy. On the contrary, disgruntled employees might just do the bare minimum, or may even be rude to customers. No business wants that!
Perhaps most important is performance. Happy employees tend to perform better overall. They may be more likely to work quickly, and will do the job to the best of their abilities. This means that they can save their employees money by making fewer mistakes and getting projects done faster. They are also less likely to put the company at risk by stealing information or property, or filing lawsuits. One study even reveals that employers could lose up to $75 per week for each unhappy employee in the office.
